Roger out in Madrid

Roger lost to Andy Murray in semifinal in Madrid today. The Scot took revenge for his defeat in the US Open final in September: 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

 

“I think he's improved at his pace,” Roger said. “First he had to grow up a little bit, become a man; I think he's taken that step well and he seems much more relaxed on the court which I think helps him. He's still fiery, which he's supposed to be. I just think you've got to give the young guys time to learn. It's so much more fun to see them learning.”

 

Roger sealed the first set after a break in the fourth game. It was the first set that Murray had to drop in the tournament so far. Murray responded and clearly took the second set 6-3. In the decider the Scot sent down 10 aces and despite Roger saving six break points, his opponent broke in game 11 and served it out to 7-5.

 

Roger is now off to Basel where he has announced that he will be competing next week.

You still did great on this tournament, making it to the semifinals isn't that bad. I think andy really just turned out to be so strong as the game progressed. I believe in you, Roger and you have what it takes to be No. 1 again. God Bless for your comi
