The perfect final
Roger won the Swiss Indoors in Basel, his hometown tournament, for the third straight year! He beat second-seeded David Nalbandian of Argentina 6-3, 6-4.
It is the 57th career title for Roger, who rifled eight aces and broke Nalbandian once in each set. He never allowed Nalbandian a break chance. "Things are back into a groove the way I like it. I'm happy with the way I'm playing," Roger said. "It feels great to win at home. Once you had it you want more of it and you want to do it over and over again." Nalbandian said Roger's performance was among the best he has faced in their long rivalry that began as juniors. Roger always kept the pressure high and showed an almost perfect match. He was extremely happy with his performance.
Also a finalist in 2000 and 2001, our champ extended his winning streak to 15 matches at this hard court tournament. It is also his fourth title of the season. He is 4-4 in finals this season and 63-13 overall.
The celebrations with Roger's family and friends as well as in the sponsor's lounges were great and Roger is off to a well deserved rest. He doesn't know whether he will be playing in the Paris Masters starting Monday, where he is seeded No. 2 behind Rafael Nadal and has a first-round bye. "I'm feeling sort of OK right now, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow."
