Overseas Personality of the Year

13.12.2004 | Off Court

Roger has swept almost all before him in the world of tennis since winning the 2004 Australian Open title. He has since become the first man since Mats Wilander in 1988 to win three Grand Slams in one season, adding Wimbledon and the US Open to his haul. In total he won all 13 titles where he had last made it to the final, an Open-era record eclipsing the 12 won by John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg. His professional success and the fact that he has also played with a smile have earned Roger the BBC 'Overseas Personality of the Year' award. Roger is very proud to have received this very prestigious title for 2004 which is also very important for tennis in general. Learn more about the trophy here.
