Next up: Andy Murray

Roger has reached the semifinals in Doha after defeating eighth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-2, 7-6 (6). The world's number one, Rafael Nadal, has dropped out of the tournament.

 

Roger even had a 4-1 lead in the second set when his opponent raised his level remarkably, taking the set to a tie-break. It was the first time in their third encounter that Kohlschreiber was able to do so. But Roger faced the three set-points successfully and managed to take home the set and match after a fantastic forehand winner. It was his 15th victory in his 16th match in Qatar.

 

Roger's semifinal opponent on Friday will be the surging Murray, who handled Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-4, 6-2 in today's nightcap. The third-seeded Murray is the reigning Doha champ, having beaten Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka in last year's finale . Roger captured the Doha event back-to-back in 2005 and 2006.

Well Done Roger! Murray simply does not have your style nor grace. You certainly seem totally invigorated. It's a shame we will not be seeing you in the final.

Everybody -- relax ....

Murray might be in Fed's head -- but Fed can do his job if he really wants ... Murray is a great player, and his goal this year is to win at least one slam ... his best surface: hard courts.

boting - agree with u - but Sampras grp is the 3rd grp which Fed will join next or may be 2011. Currently he is in the group of Safin , Hewitt, Ferraro...... 26 plus guys. He will play well and reach qtr and semis - thats it and if he has luck, like the g

i think it is time to have a full time coach,you are missing very easy shots ,38 unforced errors are too much double Murray's errors,you are for sure the most skillful player ever but you need help now, you could have beaten him easily, you need to focus,

Keep positive, everyone! Roger’s heart lies on the slams and only slams count now. This match should help him make the adjustments he needs and we will see a different Roger over 5 sets in the AO.

Your right, i think when Roger eventually hangs his racket up we'll be left with just the powerful hitters, and as you say the games will be slugfests and there will be no more beautiful tennis to watch.... a shame

Boting please keep your negative thoughts to yourself, they do not help. As for leaving the tour, what are you thinking, he played well this tournament getting to the semis. He has work to do but if he didn't think he could win I am sure he will retire! M

Yeah dutzi..we are all great fans of Roger as well but sometimes we have to be a bit realistic. There were some amazing shots, no doubt about that...a lot of winners but those who know Roger and his game well would have been as surprised as I was on how

jenniesmith, you are 100% correct, the game is reverting back to a physical game, but lets face it, no one plays or will play with the grace and shots as Roger does. It is hard for me to watch many matches because they end up being slugfests. Sad.
