Roger joins last eight
14.05.2009 | Tennis
Roger was close to his best form today, easing into the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over James Blake.
He broke the American's serve with a crashing backhand return to start off with and soon after managed another break at 4-2. He went on to take the set and opened the second with yet another break. Roger showed a solid performance, wrapping up victory with a fifth ace on his first match point. Our champ had been knocked out by James Blake at the Olympic Games in Beijing last year; their head-to-head now stands at 9-1.
Roger will play the winner of the match later today between sixth seed Andy Roddick and Nikolay Davydenko.

C'MON, HOLD YOUR SERVE. Breaking Andy, like Ivo, is the hardest part of the job.
C'MON, ROGERRRR!!!! You know Andy isn't going to give up. FIGHT! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!!!
