Roger cruises into round three

24.06.2009 | Tennis

Roger produced a sublime display to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round at Wimbledon today. It took him just 89 minutes to secure the 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

"The opponents are only going to get tougher. I'm playing great at the moment, and I hope it is going to last," he said. Roger server brilliantly, losing only three points on his first serve and breaking his opponent regularly. He was in superb touch as he broke twice to take the first set 6-2 and, after saving two break points early in the second, a stunning winner saw him break as he won the set 6-2. He then eased through the third set 6-4.

After a break on Thursday, Roger will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round three on Friday. He has won all three encounters with the German so far.

Seriously disappointed in the performances of Delboy and Gulbis. I thought Delboy would have been there to threaten Murray in the later rounds. It seems he had knee problems. Gulbis showed so much promise last year. What happened to him?

Well done, Roger!!

I know you're taking all comers seriously, even though you beat Kohls the three times you met. You were still suffering from mono when you beat him in Halle last year and he was playing very well; your back was not 100% when you beat

Congrats Roger!!!
You "routined" him...go out there and do the same to Kohlschreiber :)

It's a privilege to watch all of your matches

Murray just won with ease and the crowd went wild. His sister is very pretty (I think that is his sister sitting with his mother, not his girlfriend?).

Murray winning his match easily against Gulbis - let's face it not much of a match. Gulbis has only won a third of his matches. Murray having an easy draw so far. Would like him to have a really difficult match next time! Interesting that Del Potro lo
