Roger cruises into round three

24.06.2009 | Tennis

Roger produced a sublime display to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round at Wimbledon today. It took him just 89 minutes to secure the 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

"The opponents are only going to get tougher. I'm playing great at the moment, and I hope it is going to last," he said. Roger server brilliantly, losing only three points on his first serve and breaking his opponent regularly. He was in superb touch as he broke twice to take the first set 6-2 and, after saving two break points early in the second, a stunning winner saw him break as he won the set 6-2. He then eased through the third set 6-4.

After a break on Thursday, Roger will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round three on Friday. He has won all three encounters with the German so far.

whew he pulled it off. 3-0 much better than 2-1. he has some margin now. Just hold on and you will get this set. Keep playing like this - just great - doing fine. Had a bit of a slip third set but you are back in control.
