Roger cruises into round three

24.06.2009 | Tennis

Roger produced a sublime display to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round at Wimbledon today. It took him just 89 minutes to secure the 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

"The opponents are only going to get tougher. I'm playing great at the moment, and I hope it is going to last," he said. Roger server brilliantly, losing only three points on his first serve and breaking his opponent regularly. He was in superb touch as he broke twice to take the first set 6-2 and, after saving two break points early in the second, a stunning winner saw him break as he won the set 6-2. He then eased through the third set 6-4.

After a break on Thursday, Roger will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round three on Friday. He has won all three encounters with the German so far.

UEs from Roger were 10 in the third set and only 2 from Kohl.

He must regroup and find his concentration again. I think Kohl figured out his strategy and is now able to fight back much better.

Roger must be working hard as he changed his shirt aga

I can't believe that you let this set slip away, Roger.

That was a bad fh miss - unbelievable that Kohls has more winners than you, and fewer UEs.

Let's get the wheels back on and take this match in four!

Only if you had paid as much attention to improving your game as to designing your pretentuous waistcoat. If you are losing a set to Khol, you have a tougher opponent in Soderling. That is of course if you make it through this match.

Dear Roger
Who is it possible? To lose this set! I am so worried now

Roger we are all sending you strength in the 4th set - regroup yourself and don't let this guy get ahead anymore. You had a small lapse in concentration but now you must close it out.
