Roger cruises into round three

24.06.2009 | Tennis

Roger produced a sublime display to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round at Wimbledon today. It took him just 89 minutes to secure the 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

"The opponents are only going to get tougher. I'm playing great at the moment, and I hope it is going to last," he said. Roger server brilliantly, losing only three points on his first serve and breaking his opponent regularly. He was in superb touch as he broke twice to take the first set 6-2 and, after saving two break points early in the second, a stunning winner saw him break as he won the set 6-2. He then eased through the third set 6-4.

After a break on Thursday, Roger will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round three on Friday. He has won all three encounters with the German so far.

Damn he is broken.

Roger doesn't want to be broken in this 3rd set because if Kohl breaks him, he will run with this set. Roger shouldn't lose a set against Kohl, and there u have it. Kohl breaks him back. He's been sluggish in this set. Hmmm!

That's it good smash - don't let him break you Roger. You must hold.

I'm sure he is irritated with himself because he isn't playing as well in this third set. Or is Kohl just playing better?

OK that's enough slack now Roger you need to tighten it up and win this set so you can go home and enjoy the sunshine in London.
