Roger to meet Söderling

26.06.2009 | Tennis

Roger ovecame a spirited challenge from Philipp Kohlschreiber today to advance into the fourth round in Wimbledon.

The 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-1 victory brings Roger a clash with Robin Söderling on Friday, the man he beat to win the French Open just a few weeks ago. Roger said: "I felt more pressure two years ago when I was trying to win a fifth Wimbledon title, but I'm relaxed and feeling good about being in the second week."

Kohlschreiber had lost all his three previous meetings with our champ and had never been able to win a set so far. But the German showed his determination and took advantage of the chance given in the third set, coming from a break back and eventually winning the tie-break. But Roger regained his rhythm right away, showing more brilliant tennis before he sealed his victory after 2 hours 31 minutes with a forehand winner.

On Monday afternoon, Roger will play Robin Söderling, against whom he has won his 10 previous matches.

you are right lux-lady. they are both incredibly difficult opponents. Verdasco's game seems more complete however Karlovic seems impossible to break. How come Rog's draw is so much harder than djoker or Murray?

Dear Fans
Roger made us so happy, we are always with him! Personally, I want him to win the more points he can, but I know it's silly, but... I get crazy when I see some Sela's and similar players in the 4th round!! I wonder who they come so high? But ou

Hewitt down on the ground with apparently a bad groin injury....don't know if he will finish his match. Stepanak playing surprisingly very well against him. Verdasco fighting hard against Karlovic - I dont know which of them would be worse for Roger to

I agree with Patrick McEnroe: That fantastic forehand winner at 5-4 to make it 5-5 was completely intimidating and it intimidated Soderling into a double-fault.

Clutch, Roger, very clutch !

Wonderful win against a tough opponent. Rest up and plan u

Come on, VJ Armitraj! You really sucks. We don't want to watch your son playing doubles. We want to watch some single matches. You don't give us the braodcast free. We have to pay for it.
