A convincing victory

01.07.2009 | Tennis

Roger did very well getting past Ivo Karlovic’s huge serves today to reach the Wimbledon semifinals with a 6-3, 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory. He is now only two more steps from a record 15th Grand Slam title!

"I love the record I have reaching so many semi-finals in grand slams in a row," said Roger. "Twenty-one, it shows how consistent I have been, how injury-free I have been to be able keep it up for such a long time … to play so well this week, I am really excited."

In a match featuring short points and few rallies, Roger conjured up a few great returns to break the 6-foot-10 Croatian twice. He will now face Tommy Haas in Friday’s semifinals. Haas reached his first Wimbledon semifinal by upsetting No. 4 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-3 today.

Murray sneaky sneaky old fool but Rod's got his number. 4-4 in the 4th set, go Rod.

I think Rod decided he was gonna remain calm and positive if he wants to win this match and so far, it's working for him.

Murray still has some growing up to do. He screams comeon at everything when he serves, when Rod serves, so annoying

I noticed that Murray can only be calm if he doesn't have the momentum and if he is not in the lead. All Rod needs to do now is to keep holding serves and break when he gets chances and this match will be over sooner than later. I don't want a 5th set. Go

I hate Murray's cat and mouse game, it's sickening to watch.

doesn't seem like Nadal will play the US Open with Tendinitis on his kneees, but u know he's a fighter and doesn't want to go down to no 3 or 4 if he doesn't play, so he will brave his injury just to play.

I will be back, possibly after my class this afternoon. It was fun !

Yes - let them battle it out there. Even if Murray will win which I doubt, it has to take him 5 sets. Roddick is just keeping his cool than I have ever seen him and playing the underdog role. Go Roddick.

No way at all that Roddick beats Roger Federer at Wimbledon. Just no chance.

Roger will be so comfortable and confident against Roddick.

He would have beaten Murray also, slightly more complicated, but Roger would have won anyway !

But this mak
