A convincing victory

01.07.2009 | Tennis

Roger did very well getting past Ivo Karlovic’s huge serves today to reach the Wimbledon semifinals with a 6-3, 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory. He is now only two more steps from a record 15th Grand Slam title!

"I love the record I have reaching so many semi-finals in grand slams in a row," said Roger. "Twenty-one, it shows how consistent I have been, how injury-free I have been to be able keep it up for such a long time … to play so well this week, I am really excited."

In a match featuring short points and few rallies, Roger conjured up a few great returns to break the 6-foot-10 Croatian twice. He will now face Tommy Haas in Friday’s semifinals. Haas reached his first Wimbledon semifinal by upsetting No. 4 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-3 today.

Murray is another Nadal, a thorn in the flesh. They are tied at 14 aces now, hope Rod could break Murray's service game and start the 4th set. That will give him all the momentum that he needs, he sure is in good form, go Rod.

I'm going to keep checking the wimbledon scoreboard for this set, then prepare for my class that I am taking.

Win this third set, Andy Roddick !

Murray talks and screams comeon and profanities for every shot, that is so annoying but Rod is quiet and taking care of business. 5-2 go Rod.

Good, Murray sometimes need the warning. His attitude something is just cross the line...

Roddick, don't you mind Murray's attitude... jst do your best

commentators always talk up everybody else's game and what a threat they are - whether it be Rafa, Novak, Murray, ... and then usually it becomes clear that they don't have the goods. Roger does !

yup, with this kind display by both player, I think they just not good enough against Roger

I know that Rafael isn't here. But this was a tough draw I still thought with Karlovic and Novak and Haas ... And the people that Roger didn't have to face weren't playing well enough to get to play Roger.

Injuries and beating all the players you need
