Roger fights past Ferrer

Roger had a scare at the Cincinnati Masters today before recovering to beat Spaniard David Ferrer 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

 

"This win today was perfect," Roger said. "It gives me another opportunity to play another match. I'm further into the tournament, which normally makes me play better."

 

Despite an early break by Roger, the first set clearly went to Ferrer. Roger fought back to level as he managed to reduce the number of errors. He then went down an early break in the third set before immediately breaking back - another break and a last service game to love then secured him a spot amongst the last eight. He will next play the winner of the third round match between former world number one Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Querrey of the United States.

Good luck with Murray!
He will feed 100% of the shots to your backhand with good safety margin for himself. So, you should step in and flatten the shots to the middle of the court. That will cut out the angles and force him to make errors. Rememb

Well done Roger,
You can see that Murray struggled too because of the timing of the match. You just need to play your best tennis and don't think about Murray, don't feel sorry for him just beat him.

GO ROGER im sure u can beat Murray even in 2 sets just do it :) And dont lose any concentration vs him play LIKE World Number 1 ! :)

Just saw your match with Hewitt Roger and I thought you played well especially in the last set with all those aces. I wish you a lot of luck with Murray tomorrow. Even though you won't need it. Murray is pretty puffed up right now and he wants to take you
