Roger reaches fourth round
28.03.2006 | Tennis
Roger beat Tommy Haas for the third time in 2006 to move into the last eight of the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami.
Roger broke Pete Sampras' record of 19 straight victories in Master Series events, defeating the German 6-1, 6-3. Roger's streak began at Hamburg last spring, continued in Cincinnati last summer and ran through Indian Wells earlier this month.
Roger said: "I played a really solid match. I started well, hit the ball well and didn't miss much. It was tough for Tommy, I didn't give him any easy balls."
Roger will face Dmitry Tursunov in the fourth round after the Russian downed 24th seed and compatriot Igor Andreev, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
