Roger cruises into quarter finals

Roger did not have any difficulty defeating 15th-seeded Tommy Robredo today, booking a spot in the quarter finals with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 victory. He has now won his last 38 matches in New York!

 

It was yet again a rather typical match between the two players: Robredo showed a strong start, but Roger was too strong and constant in the long run. Roger moved on in 1 hour, 48 minutes with the help of nine aces and five breaks. He held his serve throughout the predictable bout and is now 9-0 lifetime against Robredo.

 

Next up is 12th-seeded Robin Söderling. Roger has played the Swede eleven times, dropping only one single set in the process.

Roger needs a match like this to go into semis. Besides, he didn't want the crowd to be bored and leave the stadium with 3 easy won sets without any excitement but just watching Soderling standing there in the court like a fool.

Well played champ that performance must have troubled djokovich..
robin played a gr8 match and still was no match for you...

Dear Roger, congrtulations what a phenomenal match u played. The firts 2 were from another planet and shows all your talent.

I stayed up the whole night because I don't want to miss a match. Soderling played well and it was a good test.

Congratulations Roger for reaching another GS semi. However, you will be tested again in the final against Nadal.
