Roger aims for second Paris victory this year

After Roger's triumph at the French Open in June, he has returned to Paris this week in the quest for a second title in the French capital this year. André Agassi is the only player to have achieved this feat in 1999. Roger would tie the American's record of 17 Masters 1000 victories should he win the tournament.

 

Roger will start the BNP Parisbas Masters with his second round match today against France's Julien Benneteau (ATP 49). He could then meet Gaël Monfils or Stanislas Wawrinka in the following round. The quarters could mean a clash between Roger and Spain's Fernando Verdasco and Andy Murray or Juan Martin del Potro could be waiting in the semis.

 

Roger advanced to the quarter finals last year, but had to pull out of the tournament before playing the round due to a stiff back.

i really think you need to rethink the career you have done amazingly well in yoru career but you have a family now ok you did well in the majors this year but 2010 should be the guage to see where you go from

Pity! But, like *boting* said, just a teniis match!
Well, this means from now on I won't bother watching this tournament!
Looks like Roger is trying to give Nadal a chance to recover the ner. 1 in London; maybe he wants things more excitant, lol!

Just saw that Benneteau is the same age as Roger so he isn't years younger like I was thinking. Just played a fantastic match that's all there is to it. Roger will not win every time. Too Bad.

Oh no Roger, bad luck, just wasn't your night was it. I am sad for you. It seemed more like a Davis Cup match .. take a breaker and Roger hope you can make up for London. xx
