Roger just makes it through!

27.11.2009 | Tennis

Roger had to face a second consecutive defeat by Juan Martin Del Potro today, but has nevertheless qualified for the semi-finals at the World Tour Finals in London! Our champ lost 2-6, 7-6(5) and 3-6.

There was quite some confusion regarding the tournament regulations today, but it was eventually clear that Roger needed to win just one set in order to book a spot in the semis. Del Potro served excellently and also showed a strong display, especially in the starting phase. Roger battled to stay in the match and waited until the very last moment to make it to the next round as he fought back from a mini-break back in the tie-break to eventually convert the first set-point he had.

In the end, all came down to one game, with Roger winning the group and Del Potro pipping Andy Murray courtesy of his 45 games won to 43 lost, while the Scot's record read 44-43!

boting-you misunderstand. I am simply saying that Roger has a lot of watchers who only praise him when he wins and then go goofy if he loses. You are not a real fan unless you can take the bitter with the sweet. Roger did not lose today because he wanted

Federer hadn't played anyone of quality since the Us open until this week (except the basel final). So expecting him to win it all after being off for 6 weeks and not really having much match practice against quality opposition is a little unrealistic. Yo

Boting, you're right.

Maybe it's not just about his backhand if you take the view that the sharp learning curve many other players are having right now, just say Roger's serve becomes relatively weaker in comparison to many new comers' like Andy and D

IF ROGER HAD WON THE MASTERS CUP , IT WOULD HAVE SENT A STRONG MESSAGE TO HIS PEERS , DON'T MESS WITH ME ON COURT BECAUSE I WILL DESTROY YOU.

THE QUESTION IS :

IS DEL POTRO THE NEXT FEDERER ?

2010 WILL BE THE ANSWER

ROGER MAY BE NO.1 , BUT THERE IS NO AURA , PLAYERS ARE NO LONGER INTIMIDATED TO PLAY ROGER LIKE FROM 2004-2007 , BECAUSE THEY NO HOW BAD HE IS PLAYING.

BY THE WAY DAVYDENKO IS 28 , SAME AGE AS FEDERER AND HE STILL BEAT HIM , HAVING PLAYED IN LESS THAN

What a poor way to end the year - hving No:1 ranking makes it worse i presume. This is not the way a No: 1 plays !!

Davydenko is 28, he played 3 solid tiring sets against Soderling last night - while Roger hd full day off. Still he beats Roger in 3 set

To change racket would be even more stupid. A racket is a very personal thing, his racket suits his style of play. That small head allows him to hit forehands/volleys with wicked precision and control.

I use a k95 and I've tried using rackets with 100

Roger, I think your a great player but I personally think you have now gone down hill with your tennis.
You still play great but you seem to struggle more now, maybe it's because you are older now or just that you are tired but having seen your last 5 or

Bad luck today Roger - I could see that you were disappointed in the match outcome. You were so close too, with a break point but it was not to be. All those tearing you down now, well it is just the usual whenever you lose and pretty sickening but wha
