I would like you to define success for me.
I think success exists on every level. Success is a nice thing because it always means you’ve taken a step forward and it gives you a sense of pride, which in turn gives you confidence and experience – a positive circle, so to speak.

What's the last book you've read?
I read a lot of newspapers and magazines (travel, cars, National Geographic)
What role has your family played in your success as a player?
Well a huge one, obviously. They invested an enormous amount of time and also a lot of money when I was young to allow me to play tennis. I have always had wonderful support from them ever since which I am most thankful for.

You spend a lot of time training in Dubai. What are some of your favourite things to do there?
I really like the nice climate in Dubai. It is always sunny, making it the ideal location for holidays as well as practice. I like to go shopping and eating out in the great restaurants and hotels. Dubai is a true melting pot of nationalities, so it’s a very interesting place in terms of the people you meet.

Sure: open-minded, honest, positive, ambitious, friendly
Do you speak English, German or French with your family?
I speak Swiss-German with my family.
What do you wish to achieve in your personal life beyond tennis?
I have just noticed that I have been starting to think about my future more seriously these days. My Foundation is definitely one of the priorities in the future, especially during the second half of my career. Before I was focusing on what I needed to do to become a better player; now I am thinking more and more about what I want to and can do after my days as an active athlete. Thoughts like family and marriage also cross my mind more and more often.

Do you like tennis or do you love tennis?
I love tennis! I’ve always felt like this because it is such a classy sport with a great, competitive flair to it. There is no body contact but it is still very physical. Tennis is a global sport played almost everywhere in the world. All these factors make it a very special sport in my eyes. That’s why I love it and always will...

What do you think is your greatest quality?
I’m a very happy person.
What is your favourite song and what does it remind you of?
There are lots songs that remind me of many different tournaments. When I hear them again it’s kind of fun because I remember that particular tournament.
