Have you ever broken a tennis racket?
Not only one :o) I’ve broken a few rackets over my career, but only very few intentionally. It mostly happened out of anger and not because I wanted to break it, which I think is a big difference. When I throw it I try not to break it. Rackets are expensive, after all – somehow that always crossed my mind before it left my hand!

Hey Roger, I've always wondered how many racquets you use in a normal tennis season.
I use around 60 frames and do around 600-700 restrings a year.
Do you have a favourite moment in tennis history (e.g. a furious McEnroe in Wimbledon, Sampras weeping for his coach in Australia, etc) that you will never forget?
One match that impressed me was the final between Becker and Edberg in Wimbledon in 1988.
Do you have a personal stringer or do you find one when you get to the tournament?
I have a personal stringer.
Do you change rackets every 8th game or at what interval?
I change rackets when I feel it is necessary and considering the changing of new balls.
Why is your headband always a different color? Do you ever wear the same one?
I wore white and black for a very long time. But after speaking to Nike we both agreed that we could also change the colour of the headband sometimes, which I find a great idea.
Do you use higher tension on hard courts or clay? What tension do you use for mains and crosses?
Well, this depends on how warm the days are and with what kind of balls I play and against who I play. So you can see – it depends on several factors and not just the surface; the feeling I have is most important.
Why did you chose Nike as your sponser?
They approached me when I was quite young already and I’ve been with them since, for almost 10 years.
Do you customize your racket? and if you do how and where?
Yes, Wilson does it for me.
Do you use a shock resistance thing that you put on the strings to reduce the shock when the racquet hits the ball?
No.
