ATP - ROGER MAKES HISTORY!

In a dramatic encounter that lasted over four hours Roger made history today! He defeated Andy Roddick to land a record-breaking 15th Grand Slam title in a thrilling final in Wimbledon, winning 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 and 16-14.

His words after the amazing success were: "It's not one of those goals you set as a young boy. It feels amazing. I don't play tennis to break records, but this is a great one to have." Roger is the first tennis professional ever to have reached the mark of 15 Grand-Slam titles as he broke Pete Sampras' record. Pete followed the epic match in the
stadium today.

It was a hard piece of work for Roger as Andy Roddick pressured him with his strong serve. The two stretched the match all the way and played the longest set in tennis history! Roger was the happy winner today, with Andy surrendering a good loser.

And now Roger regains the world number 1 spot after his glorious victory - way to go!

Dear Roger,

Magnificent 15, it really is…… Unbelievable when one tries to realise the proportions of this achievement: congratulations!

What a beautiful happening with Pete there – he kept us guessing for a while, so great to see him arrive in the Royal Box – and Björn and Rod, fantastic. You deserve all of this, you ‘re the very best!

In matches like this you can really see the your greatness. Also when things are not going your way you have the ability of turning it around, only great competitors can do that. Look alone at the second set tiebreak All credit to Andy Roddick, he truly played the best I ever saw of him. And it was so close……

I was so glad that the history of last year did not repeat itself, as I feared while the fifth set went on and on, the end came as a fantastic relief.

Please enjoy. Time to turn to family matters now. All the best for Mirka and yourself!

Hello Roger,
Many, many congratulations!!! I feel very privileged to be one of your supporters. What a tense and exciting Wimbledon final, it was sad that there had to be a loser.
2008 was such a hard year with the disappointments, the hurtful comments and losing your Number 1 ranking (although it was to Rafa who had an amazing few months).
How fantastic that you have the Wimbledon trophy back, 15 Grand slam tournaments titles, back to back French Open and Wimbledon titles, are one of only a handful of players who have won each of the Grand slam titles, are back to Number 1 in the world and the incredible story goes on!
Enjoy every moment and best wishes for the safe arrival of your baby.
