OFF COURT - DUBAI AND DAVIS CUP

Dear Fans,

Today I am disappointed to announce that I am withdrawing from both Dubai and the Davis Cup tie in the United States. This was a hard decision to make as I am missing not only one of my favorite events on tour in Dubai but I am also missing out on an opportunity to help my country try and move on to the next round of Davis Cup. After injuring my back last fall, I did not have enough time to strengthen it completely. As a precautionary measure, I will use the next few weeks to make sure the back injury is fully rehabilitated and I am ready for the rest of the 2009 season.

carissimo federer, mi dispiace molto che tu non possa partecipare a questi ultimi tornei anche perchè dopo essere stato lontano tanto dalle competizioni spero non ti penalizzi proprio nei tornei dove sono in palio tanti punti.. però sono un pò in pensiero per i tuoi malanni anche perchè tu avevi detto che stavi bene .... scusa per lo sfogo ma sono un pò delusa di non vedereti a giocare.... ma senz'altro tu conosci meglio il tuo fisico di chiunq'altro e spero tu abbia preso una decisione giusta..... non è che penserai dopo questa ulteriore delusione degli australian open di abbandonarci.... e poi vorrei che tu rispondessi a tutti quelli che ti criticano anche se lo so che fanno male ma almeno che tu dica la tua... visto anche quello che ha dello la jancovic... (visto che tu avevi detto la verità e la verità fa sempre male)... facci avere più informazioni sul tuo stato di salute .... scusaci ma noi fans scatenati vorremmo sempre sapere tutto di te e anche della tua famiglia (lo so che sono cose tue personali ma qualche volta mi piacerebbe essere accontentata). l'anno scorso sono venuta a Roma e purtroppo ti ho visto solo mezz'ora nel momento del tuo allenamento so che potevamo essere fastidiosi ma speravo di avere almeno un tuo sguardo visto che ero a due passi da te bastava solo che tu avessi alzato la testa verso la terrazza.) Quest'anno per problemi di salute non potrò essere al torneo di Roma ma spero che tu parteciperai e farai anche un bel torneo). vorrei tanto che tu leggessi la mia lettera (anche se non scritta in inglese) ed anche una piccola risposta per farci capire che leggi possibilmente tutte le nostre lettere sia belle che brutte... ti faccio tantissimi auguri di buona guarigione e spero che tu possa metterti alle spalle questi ultimi brutti ricordi e tornare anche mentalmente forte (cosa che io credo che tu riesca benissimo ) aspetto una tua risposta anche se fra tanto tempo ma non ti scordare di noi fans. anche se siamo pesanti perchè la propria vita privata non d'evessere di dominio pubblico ... ma vorrei sapere come ti senti adesso e vorremmo esserti vicino per superare questo periodo... allenati tanti e fai vedere a tutti quello che vali..... (come il nostro valentino rossi che l'anno prima lo davano per spacciato e l'anno scorso invece ha dato a tutti una grande lezione ...

Hi Roger,
Tournaments are not interesting with you not playing. But you need to look at the long run. So take adequate care. I am sure you'll outlast Nadal and most current players , what with your smooth, stylish and effortless kind of play. And more slam cups will follow if only you'll keep plying. Every teenis player/fan will always admire and enjoy your tennis. Best wishes from India.

***Fiona*** thank you for posting for Hughsie/Margaret. I will keep all Aussies in my thoughts tomorrow re: the memorial service at Rod Laver Arena. It must be shocking to the players to know this tragedy happened so soon after they were in beautiful Melbourne and its surrounds.

It's hard to wait for our Champ to be back, isn't it? But I feel confident he is making the right decisions and I look forward to seeing what beautiful tennis unfolds, starting in Indian Wells.
