ATP - ROGER WITHDRAWS FROM STOCKHOLM

Roger announced today that he will not be participating in the Stockholm Open which starts next Monday.

"2008 has been a tough year for me as I was always playing catch up after being diagnosed with mononucleosis at the beginning of the year. I feel fortunate to be healthy again, but I want to remain at the top of the game for many more years to come and go after the #1 ranking again. In order to do that, I need to get a proper rest and get strong again so that I am 100% fit for the remainder of the year or next year. At this point, I am not sure when I will be ready to play again, but I hope to be back at some point before the end of the year. I apologize to the tennis fans in Sweden as I was looking forward to playing in Stockholm again. The country has produced so many incredible tennis players and the tournament has such a great history. I hope to be able to come back at some point in the future."

I miss you so much... but you know what to need to do to be back...and better than ever...i hope you enjoy this time with yourself and you work hard.

Is going to be hard not see you playing for a long time...i hope to see you in Basel...but take all the time you need!!

We have been waiting 4 u to show up in Stockholm but we have been unlucky bec u decided 2 withdraw ! ok dear we have 2 wait a little bit longer 2 see you again . we miss u so much & we all looking forward to see you playing your magic tennis our dear HERO !

Funny thought about a hugh gathering of Rogerholics at his tennis match. You know I've toyed with that idea a while back . . . like all of us meet at a certain time at a tournament gate and waving signs of "Rogerholics Gathering Site," then talk endlessly about his prowess, his beauty . . . everything Roger. Wouldn't that be so nice . . . I dream too once in a while.

Hi Roger when i read this i was so upset b'coz u lost ur number one ranking and u have to play more tournaments to regaing your world number ONE spot.... but it's your decision so good luck for your future and i will pray from my ALLAh(god( that you will become number ONE again....

I agree with you that Roger can play Nadal and WIN even on clay IF HE IS FIT. I also agree with you that a great player can peak at age 30. Let's see if Roger will. I believe he will.

I do not agree with your notion of Agassi was a better player than Sampras though I was an Agassi fan and I was frustrated each time Pete won Andre. Two were completely different players.

I was never frustrated or sad when Agassi was beaten by Roger. Ha, ha, ha.

I also think Roger might play in Madrid. If they show Roger's picture there, plus the time, weather etc. , it must be for a reason ... close to our heart. I just hope Roger is feeling a little more rested and that he will play soon. I miss him too... and a lot. Tennis is not at all the same without him. Miss him, miss him

Good luck Roger.

Your dedicated fans ( like me ) perfectly understand your decision. You proved in the past that you managed your calendar very well. It is still the same today. You think further than a tournament, you think of your futur.
You are truly our tennis genius and I will be there watching you at the next Masters of Canada.

Dear fellow Rogerholics:
What a wonderful idea for all the Rogerholics to get together and cheer for him in a tournament. How I wish I could be there, but I am so far away in the Far East.
At one time I was living in the US, about ten years ago, but then I didn't know Roger, or not even interested in tennis.
As for me, Roger Federer is my first, best, and probably last Love.
