ATP - ROGER SOARS INTO SEMIS

Roger played a terrific match today to defeat Evgeny Korolev 6-3, 6-2 in just 55 minutes.

The Russian qualifier demonstrated why he made it through to the quarter finals in Basel and also had several break-balls, but Roger simply played too well. Our champ broke his opponent to 4-2 in the first and 3-2 as well as 5-2 in the second set.

The crowd in Basel is in for a special showdown on Saturday: Roger will play against another player from Basel, his long-time friend and junior training colleague Marco Chiudinelli. Chiudinelli clearly beat France's Richard Gasquet 6-1, 6-3 and will be playing the first semi-final at an ATP tournament of his career.

Hello Roger

One of our wonderful neighbours, a tennis player and a Roger devotee, goes into his work to watch your matches when they are not televised.He records for us and drops the DVD in on his way home .
Congratulations on winning the the first 3 matches--your serve has been solid,and that lethal forehand has been a joy to watch, let alone my old favourite your footwork and movement--Roger I did not honestly think that you could improve the latter two BUT you have--you are so amazing [and so too is your trainer Pierre]

Apart from your wonderful tennis, it is pleasing to see you relaxed,happy and most importantly healthy. Great to be at the top of the mountain again health wise after some 18 months of not always feeling 100% is it not?
Wishing you all of the very best with your match against Marco--exciting to watch 2 Swiss players,on their home soil. Brings back memories of the 2009 Kooyong final--Roger and Stan.Very special.

I hope tomorrow Marco will not start chatting with ayou too much during the match, otherwise we'll have to throw you out of the court and you'll have to wait longer outside for your parents to pick you up!

Fans: that was happening to them during training sessions when they were juniors!!!
This will be a Basler duell...
