OFF COURT - ROGER WITHDRAWS FROM HALLE

Dear fans

In an attempt to prevent injury after the long final in Paris, I cannot defend my title at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle. Gerry and Ralf Weber have always been so hospitable over the years and I love playing there. I look forward to returning in 2008.

I think you did this site a little bit more exciting.
When you said something bad to a roger's fan the others insulted you too-so we, the real roger's fans became friends.
Before you sent your first message I have never written a message to a roger's fan, only to my champion so thanks.
now I respect you! Sorry for all the bad things I said about you (and Nadal)but I was angry because of the finale from RG.
Don't think that we became friends but if you won't say ugly things about roger you can be sure that I won't say something bad about Nadal.

Thank you very much for summing it up what Nadal and his game is....Very well said!!

As you all rightly said, Roger's game is built around class, the unique talent he has... He is already a GOAT from all our fans perspective; the media and others who asked him to win FO to be the greatest ever, we all know how many slams they won; how many GS finals they made it etc... Roger has already taken the game to another level which is quite unbelievable.. He pulls through shots which are not in the shot book... only ROger can pull such shots sorry amazing shots...

Media, even if Rogi plays tie-breakers in some matches, they make a big deal out of that.. because they dont have anything else... It is not always possible to have 6-4,6-2,6-0 scores... I guess the expectations are very very high for Roger.

From fans perspective atleast let us all stop adding pressure to him.. LEt us just keep wishing him to enjoy the tennis he plays does not matter win or loose....

I know all of us want Rogi to win... but let us welcome him with our hands and let us give our shoulders to him at tough moments....regardless of the outcome....

Regardless, all the best for the Wimby07 championship...

I have belief that Roger will communicate to us when he starts practicing or ready... itz simply his nature to keep us posted... let us wait to hear from him....

Dear Lorger,

Thank you for your message. I hope you had a wonderful time with your grandchildren. I see from the little flag, that you are from the same country as Ivanisavic. He was one of my favourite players, ever since I watched him play at the French Open, when he was 18 years old. Even though I liked Rafter so much I was extremely happy, when Goran won Wimbledon. I think that was in 2001, when Roger beat Sampras.

Anyway like you I like green but I wish they would remove old news and give us something new and positive. One of the fans has said that Roger is on his way to U.K. - thats good news!

I am looking forward to seeing our beloved Roger once again.

Yeah, Roddick won at Queen's and Berdych (expectedly) won in Halle.

Sure, we're all going to stay by Roger's side through thick and thin. It's the man that we admire, not some sort of artificial flawless tennis machine.

To Lovely and other Federer fans,

I was not aware of an injury to Federer which prevented him from playing in Halle. He did not mention it in the statement above. I have been a fan of Federer from 2001, when most people did not even know him. My comments on page 25 were not intended to be malicious but frank and honest, Even families have differences but that doesn't mean the strong love is not there.
With that in mind, I stand by my comments. I believe that Federer choked in that match. If he was injured, he should let us know.
My other concern was that he had won Halle before Wimbledon for 4 years in a row and changing a winning combination is sometimes not a good idea.
However, I believe Federer will win Wimbledon. I am looking forward to his self assured play there.

Dear Roger,

You are the undisputed king of Wibledon right now, four in a row so far only Sampras and Borg have preceeded you in that, and a fifth is on offer to tie you with Borg.

Unlike the French, there is no doubt that you are the favourite to win the tournament, there is no player that can stop you if you play well and stay focused.

Nadal's loss on grass is also reassuring, he is not immortal and despite his making it to the final last year is still not considered the greatest threat at Wimbledon, but is neverthe less not to be underestimated.

Despite all of your success which no one can take away from you, you know you have a lot to prove this time and you have to work for it.
Even kings have to prove their worthiness sometimes and no king can rest on his laurels and past acheivements.

Look forward Roger, not backward
keep your eye on the ball and don't take it off until you are holding that trophy.

Just do it.

Dear All,

think Roger's decision to withdraw from Halle was good. He is the most appropiate person to know what's best for him. Moreover I believe Roger needs to pick up the tournaments more cuatiously than yet 2-3 years ago. He needs to hit only the key ones (GS, MC, MS) in order to beat all time records and stay at the top for a long time. This way he'll be able to win 17-18 GS titles. Playing over 90 matches a year will make him exhausted (like now after long and tiring preparation and RG itself) and will make it unfeasible to reach for top goals.

Keep fingers crossed for 5th consecutive Wimbledon tile and equalizing Borg record!

Hey Roger,

Don't worry because of the injury. I'm just waiting to se you out there at the Cathedral (Wimbledon). Good match in Paris and don't worry because as you said at the press conference, this will challenge you to be a better player for next year.

And no matter what i still think that you are going to complete THE SLAM.

Roger did have a thigh injury and was one of the reasons he pulled out that and fatigue, he didn't want to hurt it any further, he may have not said here but if you still need proof then please go on this web site, WWW.GOROGER.NET there is a comment by the director of halle explaining the reasons it states there was an injury.

And to say roger gave that match away was totally un-fair, yes it's your right to think that but not called for at all.
