OFF COURT - HAITI FUNDRAISING A GREAT SUCCESS

The charity-match that Roger initiated has turned out to be a great success! A total of 15'000 tickets for seats in the stadium were sold (full house), about 5'000 more visitors came to see the action on the screens on the compound, which normally stays closed on Sundays.

The athletes played a doubles competition in two teams:
Team Federer: Roger, Serena Williams, Lleyton Hewitt, Samantha Stosur.
Team Nadal: Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters.

Roger's team was eventually defeated 6-7 in the show-match. All in all, the stars were able to generate about 200'000 Dollars with the event. The money will be donated to help the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

I took my kids today and it was amazing! Not only did they see some awesome players enjoying the game they love but they saw how they can make a difference to people going through trauma. Kudos to Roger for making this happen in 24 hours!!!! Thumbs up from us :D

Great event Roger, but it says here that Roger's team lost and on ATP World Tour page says Roger's team won...so what is correct? :)))

Hello Roger
What a truly marvellous 'Hit for Haiti' turned out to be. It was simply brilliant in every way, some very good tennis and so hillarous--all of the participating players contributed so well--the winner--- the poor people in Hiati. Roger thank you and congratulations on organising this very worthwhile event at such short notice--full stadium on a Sunday in the middle of our summer holidays--well done. Thanks also to the other players and the Tennis 'powers of be' for organising it.
Great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole afternoon.
Jim Courier attempted to umpire!!.
2 nbeautiful & rather shy, but I am sure very grateful, Hiatians holding their red and blue natioanl flag were brought on to the court at end proceedings to meet the players.

regards
Margaret

G_Fed - If you had been there you would have realised that it really didn't matter who won....It was about the tennis community - players, organisers and supporters coming together for Haiti...the end result didn't matter in the slightest!
