Roger withdraws from Rome due to injury
May 17, 2019 -- Rome, Italy After playing two matches back to back on Thursday, one of which to a tiebreak in the third, Roger woke up Friday not feeling 100% physically due to an injury to his right leg. He withdrew in his Quarterfinal match, which means Stefanos Tsitsipas automatically advances to the semifinals. “I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete today. I am not 100 per cent physically and after consultation with my team, it was determined that I not play. Rome has always been one of my favorite cities to visit, and I hope to be back next year,” Roger said. The Swiss star is scheduled to be at Roland Garros next, which begins on May 26th. It will be his first time back on the French Open courts since 2015.
