Facing his toughest opponent yet, Stan showed no signs of wear despite his 5-set thriller to get him into the Quarterfinals. Roger dictated and hit his backhands with ease as he weathered the storm and after a short delay won the match 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4. He faces Rafael Nadal in the semifinals, where they will go head to head for the 39th time. Roger becomes the oldest man at 37 to reach the French Open semifinals since Pancho Gonzales who got there in 1968 when he was 40.
